A healthcare organization in Southwestern Connecticut is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a locum tenens Cardiac Surgery assignment. This 13-week opportunity offers a combination of operating room and inpatient responsibilities with a collaborative cardiac surgery team and the potential for a temp-to-hire transition.

Assignment Details

• Setting: Inpatient Cardiac Surgery
• Start Date: September 1, 2026
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 40 hours per week
• Shifts: Three 13-hour rotating shifts per week
  • 7:00 AM8:00 PM
  • 7:00 PM8:00 AM
• Coverage: Rotating schedule with occasional weekend coverage
• Call: None specified
• EMR: Epic (preferred)

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient management for adult cardiac surgery patients
• Assist with perioperative and postoperative care
• Perform chest tube insertion and management
• First assist in the cardiac surgery operating room when applicable
• Coordinate care with surgeons, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary care team
• Document patient care using Epic

Requirements

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Active Connecticut license
• Cardiac surgery inpatient experience preferred
• Experience with chest tube insertion and management
• Cardiac surgery first assist experience preferred
• Epic experience preferred
• Eligible for hospital credentialing
