Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Internal Medicine Physician to join a well-established hospitalist team in Rome, NY. This is a full-time, permanent night shift position offering a balanced 7-on/7-off schedule with no on-call responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be board eligible in Internal Medicine and committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care to a manageable census of approximately 5?10 patients per night.
  • Perform admissions from the emergency department and direct admissions, including thorough histories, physical exams, and diagnostic assessments.
  • Manage acute medical conditions, including ICU patients, with 24/7 intensivist support for complex cases.
  • Document all clinical encounters in the Paragon EMR system in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, case managers, and ancillary teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Develop and implement safe and efficient discharge plans, including follow-up care and medication reconciliation.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and ensure smooth handoffs between day and night teams.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies and medical staff bylaws.
  • Mentor residents, students, or advanced practice providers as applicable.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and excellent communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
