Director of Major Projects Job Summary: The Director of Major Projects will provide executive-level leadership for large-scale power generation and utility construction projects valued between $1 billion and $10 billion. This role oversees project strategy, safety, budgets, schedules, commercial agreements, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder relationships to ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in major capital projects, power generation, EPC execution, contract negotiations, and executive-level leadership.
Director of Major Projects Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead major power generation and utility construction projects from planning through completion.
• Develop project strategies, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocations.
• Oversee safety programs and ensure employee and contractor compliance.
• Manage capital investments, financial forecasts, cash flow, and project contingency plans.
• Establish commercial strategies and negotiate EPC, engineering, and construction contracts.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and regulatory activities.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to control cost, schedule, and contractual exposure.
• Lead project change management and resolve technical and commercial disputes.
• Manage relationships with executives, contractors, vendors, utilities, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee permitting, regulatory approvals, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and hold project team members accountable for performance and deliverables.
• Monitor project metrics and report progress, risks, and financial performance to executive leadership.
• Ensure projects meet established safety, quality, schedule, budget, and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with finance and treasury teams on project financing and long-term capital planning.

Director of Major Projects Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of qualified professional experience.
• Experience in at least two areas, including major construction, project management, portfolio management, commissioning, project controls, power generation, or contract negotiations.
• Proven experience leading complex projects and cross-functional teams.
• Strong business acumen, commercial negotiation, and risk management skills.
• PMP certification required.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience in utility generation, power plants, or heavy industrial construction.
• Experience with EPC contracts and new power generation projects.
• Knowledge of generation interconnection agreements and regulatory permitting.
• Experience coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies.
• Familiarity with PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, USACE, USFWS, or NEPA requirements.
• Experience with state utility commissions and major regulatory applications.
• Previous experience as a Staff Project Manager, Senior Staff Project Manager, or Director of Projects.

• Travel as required and remain on-site at the assigned project location during applicable execution phases.
• Work safely in office, power generation, and construction site environments, including areas requiring specialized safety precautions.
