Job Description Job Description About the Role: Chestnut Grove Association Inc. is looking for a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team in New Milford, CT! This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your creativity and culinary expertise to a welcoming environment where great food and great people come together. Our senior living community serves up to 45 meals, 7 days a week, 362 days a year. Dinner is served promptly at 5:30 pm during the week day and promptly at 12:30 pm on the weekends. We are looking for a sous chef to work up to 5 days per week, which may include weekends.
Responsibilities:

  • Work with our head chef to design and curate a well-balanced 3-course meal, daily
  • Prepare and cook high-quality meals in accordance with established recipes and standards
  • Oversee food preparation, presentation, and plating to ensure consistency and quality
  • Manage kitchen operations including mise en place, station setup, and line cooking
  • Monitor food inventory, minimize waste, and assist with ordering supplies as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with food safety regulations
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient service during peak hours
  • Contribute creative ideas for menu development and seasonal specials

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Chef, Line Cook, or similar culinary role
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen equipment
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification a plus)
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Culinary degree or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
